The newly constructed Barnard Construction Company headquarters in Bozeman, Montana features a modern design with numerous curved interior walls throughout multiple levels of the building. During construction, AVDC supported Swank Enterprises by preparing the print-ready layout drawings used with the HP SitePrint Robot to accurately mark the curved wall locations directly on the floor slabs.
In addition to preparing the robotic printer layouts, AVDC assisted the field team with training and implementation of the printing workflow. By using the robotic site printer to quickly transfer the wall layouts from the model to the field, the project team was able to significantly reduce manual measurements, improve layout accuracy, and accelerate the framing process – helping maintain the construction schedule while minimizing layout errors and rework.
A similar approach was used on the Lofts at Buffalo Hill project in Kalispell, Montana, where AVDC provided BIM coordination and prepared robotic printer layouts to identify and mark all penetrations through a post-tensioned deck. Using the HP SitePrint Robot the project team was able to clearly visualize and coordinate the exact locations of embeds, wall anchors, anchor tie down systems, and mechanical, plumbing, & electrical sleeves. This model-driven layout process improved field coordination, reduced the risk of damaging post-tension cables, and helped crews install penetrations quickly and accurately.
